An advance screening of the second season of the TV anime " The Apothecary Diaries, " based on a light novel by Natsu Hyuga that originated from the novel submission site " Shosetsuka ni Naro ," was held on January 5th at TOHO Cinemas Hibiya (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo), with Takeo Otsuka Jinshi , and Katsuyuki Konishi , who plays Gao Shun, in attendance. Aoi Yuki , who plays Maomao , was scheduled to appear but was absent from the screening due to having the flu, and a message from Yuki was introduced. Yuki apologized, saying, "Someone at the pharmacy has caught the flu. Maomao will probably scold us," and "I'm sorry for the inconvenience we've caused."
Yuki asked Otsuka and Konishi to "pinch in" by saying, "I'm sure they'll say 'This is poison' (the famous line from Maomao) with all their might." Konishi responded, "This is poison!" and Otsuka, "This is poison, too!" They both then said the famous line. Afterwards, Konishi and Otsuka continued to say "This is poison" during their talks, livening up the screening.
The light novel version of "The Apothecary Diaries" is published by Hero Bunko (Imagine Infos), and the comic adaptation is also gaining popularity. The total number of copies of the original series has exceeded 38 million. The story is set in the glamorous harem of a certain continent, where a young poison taster named Maomao and a handsome eunuch Jinshi become embroiled in an incident that takes place in the harem, which is full of conspiracies and rumors.
The first season of the TV anime aired on Nippon Television from October 2023 to March 2024. The second season will be broadcast on Nippon Television's anime slot "FRIDAY ANIME NIGHT (Fura-ani)" from January 10th, every Friday at 11pm for two consecutive seasons.
