It has been announced that a sequel to the TV anime "Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin," based on a Japanese-style action RPG with a rice farming theme, will be produced. It was also announced that new smartphone and consumer games will be produced.

Soma Shoji of P.A.WORKS, who serves as the line producer for the anime, commented, "As a fan, I am very happy to see the world of Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin expanding rapidly. The announcement of a sequel to the anime has come at a time like this...! I myself am looking forward to seeing what we can bring to everyone next. As the Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin team, we will continue to work hard, so please look forward to further news! Rice is power once again!"

Naru, the original author of the game, said, "This is Naru from E-delweiss. I'm announcing three new projects! You'll get to meet Sakuna and Kokorowa again. And one more unfamiliar character...? I get a bit worried about making so many different things, but I think it's all thanks to everyone's support. Please continue to support Sakuna and the others...!"

Koichi, the original author of the game, said, "This is Koichi from E-delweiss. Lately I've been doing more development and production. I'm not at the stage where I can say anything more than 'I'm doing it,' but I've been planning and working on something like this for a while. I hope you'll look forward to the Sakuna content that will continue to expand with the help of many people."

"Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin" is a unique game set on the island of Hinoe, and is popular for its fusion of action games in which you fight the demons that rule the island, and simulation elements inspired by traditional Japanese rice farming. Released in 2020, it became a hit, with total shipments worldwide exceeding 1.5 million copies, and was even called the "Reiwa rice riots." A TV anime adaptation aired from July to September.
