It has been revealed that voice actors Akio Otsuka, Haruka Tomatsu, and Tomokazu Seki will be voicing the Podrims people from another dimension in "Wingman," a live-action drama based on Masakazu Katsura's popular manga (TV Tokyo and others, Tuesday midnight 12:30).
The drama is based on the manga of the same name, which was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from 1983 to 1985 and was the serial debut of Katsura, who is known for "Video Girl Ai" and "I"s." The story follows Kenta, a high school student and special effects otaku, who comes into his hands with a "Dream Notebook" that makes whatever he writes come true, and gains the power to transform into his own hero, "Wingman," for just five minutes. The main character Kenta will be played by actor Makino Fujioka, and the heroine of this work, Aoi, a mysterious girl who comes from Podrims to the three-dimensional (Earth) world, will be played by Konatsu Kato.
The voice actors announced this time will be voicing the Podrims people, who symbolize the drama. Otsuka will play the role of Rimel, the emperor who completely controls Podrimus and is after the Dream Note that Aoi possesses. Tomatsu will play Zasiva, an assassin sent to the three-dimensional world by Rimel, and Seki will play Dr. Lark, Aoi's father, the developer of the Dream Note, and who is imprisoned in Podrimus during the war.
A 60-second trailer for the drama was also released. The video condenses the worldview of the epic drama, including a scene in which Hirono Kenta, played by Fujioka, transforms into Wingman with a shout of "Chain." The live-action version of Kitaklar, Rimel's right-hand man, was also revealed for the first time.
"Wingman" will be broadcast on TV Tokyo's "Drama Choose!" slot (Tuesdays at 12:30 a.m.) from October 22nd. DMM TV will have an exclusive unlimited viewing and simultaneous distribution service, with the first episode being distributed one week earlier on October 16th. TV Osaka will broadcast it every Friday at 2:40 a.m. from October 25th.
Episode 1: Hirono Kenta, a high school sophomore who loves special effects, trains every day in a hero costume he made himself. One day, a mysterious beautiful girl named Aoi falls from the sky. While tending to the unconscious Aoi, Kenta writes down the idea for "Wingman" in the notebook she had. Then, suddenly, Kenta transforms into a hero. Together with Aoi, who has escaped from the other-dimensional world of Podrimus to save her father, they fight against assassins who approach one after another.
