To commemorate the 40th anniversary of the broadcast of the popular anime Heavy Metal L-Gaim, which was popular mainly in the 1980s, it has been announced that the first official book, Heavy Metal L-Gaim 40th Official Book Dreamers Again, will be released on February 26, 2025.
The set includes Mk-I, which looks back on the 40-year history, and Mk-II, which covers all the setting materials from the time of broadcast. It also includes rare, unpublished initial settings by character and mechanic designer Mamoru Nagano, as well as new interviews with the staff. The illustration on the three-sided box is drawn by character illustrator Toshiyuki Kubooka and mecha illustrator Morifumi Naka. The price is 11,000 yen.
It has also been announced that the Blu-ray Disc (BD) box for the series, Heavy Metal L-Gaim Dreamers Blu-ray BOX, will be released on February 26, 2025. This will be the first time the series has been made into a BD. As a bonus, it comes with a CD containing all the rare BGM collections that are hard to come by, and Nagano has drawn a new illustration for the box. The price is 74,800 yen.
"Heavy Metal L-Gaim" was directed by Tomino Yoshiyuki and aired from 1984 to 1985, following "Mobile Suit Gundam: Aura: The Forces of Evil Dunbine".
