It has been revealed that Otomo Ryuzaburo, Inoue Kikuko, Seki Tomokazu, Sugita Tomokazu, and Hirano Aya will be playing the voice actors of the "monsters" that appear in the TV anime "Dandadan," which is based on the popular manga by Tatsuyuki Shinnobu that is currently being serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+." Otomo will play the Flatwoods Monster, an alien with a sumo wrestler-like appearance and large diamond-shaped gills, Inoue will play the Acrobatic Sarasara, a yokai with long, flowing hair and a red one-piece dress, Seki will play the Dover Demon, also known as the Mantis Raccoon Alien, Sugita will play Taro, a male human model who comes to life under the influence of the power of "something," and Hirano will play Hana, an old female human model.
Three commercials for the battle, romance, and occult editions have also been released. The battle arc begins with Okarun's catchphrase "That's so disheartening" after his transformation, and shows him challenging the Flatwoods monsters. The romance arc shows the bittersweet exchange between Momo and Okarun. The occult arc shows the constant wave of monsters, including Taro the human model running at full speed, the Serpo alien who wants a banana, Acrobatic Sarasa, and the Dover Demon.
"Dandadan" is a manga by Ryu, who served as an assistant on the popular manga "Chainsaw Man" and "Hell's Paradise," and began serialization in "Shonen Jump +" in April 2021. It depicts Momo, a high school girl from a family of spiritualists, and Okarun, her classmate and occult fanatic, as they face off against the monsters that appear one after another. The comic has sold over 3.2 million copies in total. It has been viewed over 440 million times on "Shonen Jump +." The TV anime will be broadcast on the late-night anime slot "Super Animeism TURBO" on MBS and TBS from October 3rd.
