The 34th episode, "Awakening", of the NHK Taiga drama "To You, Who Shines", starring Yoshitaka Yuriko, will be broadcast on September 8th. Starting with this episode, actor Watanabe Keisuke will appear as Fujiwara no Yorimichi. This will be Watanabe's first time appearing in a Taiga drama.

Fujiwara no Yorimichi, played by Watanabe, is the eldest son of Michinaga (Emoto Tasuku). He rises through the ranks at a young age under his powerful father. However, he has no interest in politics and continues to harbor complex feelings of respect and resentment towards his father. He later builds Byodoin Temple in Uji.

When his appearance was announced in November last year, Watanabe commented, "I think he is a man who is full of loyalty, but also full of pure love, to the point that he ignores and pushes through the advice of his father, Michinaga."

"I feel both joy and responsibility in playing such a man," he said, "I will do my best to portray Yorimichi, who was influenced by his father Michinaga for better or worse, while carefully incorporating the atmosphere of 1,000 years ago."

"To You, Shining" is the 63rd taiga drama. Set in aristocratic society in the mid-Heian period, the protagonist is Murasaki Shikibu (Mahiro), who later wrote "The Tale of Genji," said to be the world's oldest novel written by a woman. The script was written by Oishi Shizuka, who is writing a taiga drama for the second time since "Koumyo ga Tsuji" in 2006, and depicts the glittering world of Heian aristocrats and the life of a woman who lived, wrote, and loved with all her heart.
