It has been announced that a 4K remaster of the 1995 animated film "Ghost in the Shell" (directed by Mamoru Oshii) will be screened again at White Cinema Quinto (Shibuya, Tokyo) from September 6th. The film is one of the representative works of voice actress Atsuko Tanaka, who played the main character Motoko Kusanagi, who passed away on August 20th, and will be screened again for one week only.

"Ghost in the Shell" is a science fiction manga that began serialization in 1989 in the "Young Magazine Pirate Edition," a supplement to the manga magazine "Young Magazine" (Kodansha). It depicts Public Security Section 9 (Ghost in the Shell), led by Motoko Kusanagi, a full-body prosthetic (cyborg) with exceptional abilities in cyberwarfare and combat, as they confront increasingly sophisticated and violent crimes.

The animated film "Ghost in the Shell" follows Motoko Kusanagi and other members of Public Security Section 9 (Ghost in the Shell) as they pursue a hacker known as the Puppet Master who is on an international wanted list. The film has also gained popularity overseas, reaching number one on the weekly Billboard video chart. A 4K remaster was released in September 2021.
