Haikyuu!! The Movie: Battle at the Garbage Dump:Box office revenue exceeds 11.5 billion yen, 8.06 million people attend, "Last Match" also a hot topic

It has been revealed that the box office revenue of the new movie version of "Haikyu!! The Movie: Battle at the Dump" (directed by Mitsunaka Susumu), based on the popular volleyball manga "Haikyu!!" by Haruichi Furudate, has exceeded 11.5 billion yen. The movie has been a huge hit, attracting more than 8.06 million viewers. The movie also attracted attention with an event titled "Nationwide simultaneous screening of "Haikyu!! The Movie: Battle at the Dump" Last Match" on August 18th. The event was broadcast live in theaters nationwide, and "Last Match Ticket-style stickers" were distributed as a bonus to attendees.

"Haikyu!!" was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump" (Shueisha) from February 2012 to July 2020. The story depicts Hinata Shoyo, who suffered a crushing defeat in his last official match in junior high school, reuniting with Kageyama Tobio, a member of the opposing team, at the Karasuno High School volleyball club where he will attend, and the two of them aiming for the top. The series has sold over 60 million copies in total. The first season of the TV anime aired from April to September 2014, the second from October 2015 to March 2016, the third from October to December 2016, and the first cour of the fourth season from January to April 2020, and the second cour from October to December 2020.

The movie is a two-part series, with the first part, "The Battle at the Garbage Dump," following the match against Inarizaki High School in the fourth season of the TV anime, depicting the "Battle at the Garbage Dump," a popular battle between Karasuno High School and Nekoma High School, both of which are also popular in the original work. Like the TV anime, it is produced by Production I.G. Part 1 was released on February 16th. Box office revenues worldwide, including in Japan, have exceeded 20 billion yen.
