A preview screening of the first part of " Sound! Euphonium: The Final Movement," a theatrical film that reconstructs "Sound ! Sound! Euphonium ! Sound! Euphonium " based on the novel by Ayano Takeda, was held at Shinjuku Piccadilly on April 15th. Taichi Ogawa, the director of the anime at Kyoto Animation, said, "The theme of the first part is 'connecting'."
Tomoyo Kurosawa, who has played the main character Kumiko Oumae for about 11 years since the first season of the TV anime started in 2015, revealed behind the scenes of the recording of the first part, saying, "It's 'fresh.' I'm sure you didn't think it would start with a scene like this, did you? I tried to approach it thinking about what it would start with from that scene. Since we 'connect' from there, our theme became 'fresh.'"
The "final movement" will also include new performance scenes. Director Ogawa said, "The ensemble scenes are very challenging. I think it's completely different when you feel the sound pressure in the theater, and I feel it's worthwhile. I want to continue doing the sequels in that same way."
Finally, Kurosawa emphasized, "I've been running for so long, connecting with so many people, and getting this far. I want to pass on the baton that has been passed to even more people. I want to share it with many more people."
The screening was attended by Ayaka Asai (voice of Hazuki Kato), Moe Toyoda (voice of Midori Kawashima), Chika Anzai(voice of Reina Kosaka), Haruka Tomatsu(voice of Mayu Kuroe), euphonium player Shoichiro Sotoyuki, and trumpet player Hayato Kodama.
"Sound! Euphonium" is set in the brass band club of Kitauji High School and depicts the growth of the band members, including euphonium player Kumiko Oumae. The first season of the TV anime aired from April to June 2015, the second season from October to December 2016, and the third season from April to July 2024. "The Final Movement" is a polished version of cuts from the third season of the TV anime, with many new scenes added. The first part will be released on April 24th.
