Actress Sayuri Yoshinaga will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 pm on December 22nd. A photo book featuring carefully selected shots from the collection of photos taken by photographer Kishin Shinoyama, who passed away last year, as well as a comprehensive list of all of the films he has appeared in, has been generating a lot of buzz.
It's been 66 years since he made his film debut at the age of 14. He says the biggest turning point in his acting career was going independent. The catalyst was the film "Douran" (1980), in which he co-starred with Takakura Ken. Here we present footage of him appearing on the same program with Takakura 45 years ago.
In Yoshinaga's latest film, her 124th, "You are there, beyond the top," there is a scene in which she is told she has only a short time left to live and fights the disease. Her husband, Taro Okada, was diagnosed with cancer and passed away last year at the age of 94 while filming the film. Yoshinaga talks about her feelings for her husband of 51 years and her acting career, which she describes as "the eighth station of life."
