The long-running variety show "Welcome, Newlyweds!" (ABC TV/TV Asahi, Sundays at 12:55 PM), hosted by Takashi Fujii and Sakura Inoue, will feature a twice-divorced salaryman who, after 10 years of devoted fandom, won the heart of Fukuoka's number one hostess in Nakasu, talking about his "zero-day courtship marriage" on May 10th.
The newlyweds in this story are a 53-year-old husband and a 35-year-old wife living in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. The wife was once the number one hostess at a cabaret in Nakasu, receiving up to 270 nominations in a single month. The husband, on the other hand, is a salaryman who has experienced two divorces in his 30s and had no intention of getting married again.
Ten years ago, one night when her husband visited "Japan's No. 1 Momotaro," the largest cabaret in Kyushu, he immediately sensed a special aura from his wife, who was dressed in a blue dress. However, at the time, his wife was the club's number one hostess, and she has absolutely no memory of their first meeting.
The husband finds solace in his wife's carefree nature and visits the bar every week. The three minutes of cheek-to-cheek dancing while "Mary Jane" plays are the only time he gets to be physically close to his wife. However, because his wife has many regular customers, the time she spends with them is sometimes only about a minute. Even so, the husband never complains, instead sending her off with the words, "I'm fine, you can go somewhere else."
My wife would prepare homemade chocolates and cookies for about 100 people for every seasonal event. She worked another job during the day, and after returning home, she would dedicate herself to baking, even sacrificing sleep.
The husband was drawn to his wife's kindness. He felt that her character shone through in the conversations about her family. On the other hand, to the wife, her husband was a mysterious customer who hardly spoke. Moreover, he was an "angelic customer" who always looked out for her, but she had absolutely no romantic feelings for him.
After five years of visiting each other, the wife gave her husband a cactus as a final farewell gift before he was transferred to Tokyo, saying, "Please keep this and think of me." In reality, the wife had forgotten to give him a present and simply handed him a cactus that happened to catch her eye, but the husband interpreted it as, "She must love me," and cherished it, taking it with him to Tokyo.
The husband endured it for three months, but unable to bear the loneliness any longer, he returned to the shop where his wife worked. He continued to visit from Tokyo once a month, and 10 years after they first met, he confessed his feelings during a meal, saying, "Let's get married." Not "Let's date," but "Marriage." His wife inwardly wondered, "What is this old man talking about?"
However, around the Obon festival last year, while spending time with relatives' children at her parents' house and seeing the families of her classmates at a class reunion for the first time in 20 years, she suddenly started thinking, "I want to get married." So she sent her husband a LINE message saying, "I'm thinking of getting married lol." When her husband replied, "With whom?", she replied, "You." Taken aback by the sudden turn of events, her husband was speechless and quickly replied with a bear sticker saying, "Okay!!"
During the short breaks she spent at the shop, even when she went to attend to other customers, her husband would always see her off saying, "It's okay," and as she left, he would always say, "Make sure you take time to rest," and "Eat nutritious food and get plenty of sleep." His kindness convinced his wife that he was the one who would cherish her for the rest of her life.
The two got married at the end of last year after "zero days of dating." Furthermore, they revealed that they had never even held hands, kissed, or had a romantic relationship before registering their marriage, causing a stir in the studio.
However, after getting married, the wife discovers a surprising fact: even when they are alone, her husband never initiates any physical contact. Faced with the woman she has loved for 10 years, her husband's extreme shyness makes her increasingly anxious. So, the show decides to surprise her by having the wife try wearing a miniskirt at home, something her husband had requested, to see his reaction.
When the husband returned home and saw his wife in a miniskirt, his expression was clearly different from usual. He blurted out, "What's the theme of that outfit?", but it seemed he was secretly overjoyed. When asked for his thoughts, he confessed his delight with the unexpected expression, "It looks like something out of a Showa-era erotic magazine...", leaving the MCs speechless.
