The animated film "The Super Mario Bros. Movie" (scheduled for release in 2023), based on the popular game "Super Mario Bros. Mario," will be broadcast on Fuji TV's "Saturday Premium" slot (Saturdays at 9 PM) on April 18th.
"The Super Mario Bros. Movie" is an animated film co-produced by Nintendo and Illumination, the studio behind the "Despicable Me" series and "Minions." It was directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, who previously collaborated on "Teen Titans Go! To the Movie." The film grossed $1.3 billion worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing video game-based film of all time. In Japan, it was also a huge hit, grossing approximately 14 billion yen and attracting over 9.8 million viewers.
The story follows twin brothers Mario and Luigi, plumbers in New York City, who get lost in a magical new world (the Mushroom Kingdom) through a mysterious pipe and become separated. Mario embarks on a grand adventure with Princess Peach and the Toads to rescue Luigi, who has been captured by the Great Demon King Bowser.
In the Japanese dubbed version, Mamoru Miyano voiced Mario, Arisa Shida voiced Princess Peach, Tasuku Hatanaka voiced Luigi, Tomokazu Seki voiced Toad, and Kenta Miyake voiced Bowser.
