NHK's popular nature program "Darwin's Coming!" (NHK General) will air "Love Burns! The 'Elder' Cheetah" on March 22nd at 7:30 p.m. The program follows an "elder" cheetah in Kenya, Africa, that lives four times the average lifespan. As if to say that the secret to its longevity is "love," the program follows its daily struggles as it continues to search for a mate even in its old age.
The cheetah is the fastest land animal. Its lightning-fast hunting style gives it the image of the ultimate hunter, but in reality, it has a very short lifespan. In Kenya, male cheetahs only live for about three years. However, a remarkably long-lived cheetah has emerged, surviving four times the average lifespan.
They survive by hiding in the bushes like ninjas, sometimes sharing food with rival hyenas, and employing surprising intelligence and ingenuity. Furthermore, they engage in a life-or-death battle for their first love. Could love be the secret to their longevity...?
