The ninth episode of the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "The Royal Family" (Sundays at 9:00 PM), starring Satoshi Tsumabuki, was broadcast on December 7th. Viewers were deeply moved by the sudden turning point in the life of Kurisu, played by Tsumabuki.
◇The following contains spoilers.
Team Royal, led by Kurisu (Tsumabuki) and Koichi (Ren Meguro), had built a strong bond as they worked towards their big dream of winning the Arima Kinen two years later.
However, at the Autumn Emperor's Cup, Royal Family breaks a bone, and Shohei (Ichihara Shogo), who replaces Ryujiro (Takasugi Mahiro) as Royal Family's main jockey, also falls off his horse and breaks his ankle. In addition to the fracture, Family also suffers from an eye disease, and Shohei, who has returned to the sport, falls into a slump.
It seemed all was lost, but thanks to the skilled veterinarian Sawatari (Mikako Ichikawa), the family's eyes were completely healed. Shohei also tried a new riding style with advice from Ryujiro. With Shohei on the saddle, the family was once again able to race with ease.
Kurisu and Kanako (Wakana Matsumoto) are overjoyed by this. Before long, Kanako suddenly asks, "Shall we get married?" Kurisu is surprised because he proposed to her a few years ago but was told, "Not now." Kanako then tells him, "I want to welcome the scenery we see now and all the things that will happen in the future with you as a family." Kurisu then replies with tears in her eyes, "Thank you very much!!" and embraces the confused Kanako.
Congratulations were sent out on social media after the couple tied the knot after several years, with comments such as "The counter proposal after a proposal is shocking," "Congratulations to Kurisu and Kanako!" "That's so great, you held on well, Kurisu, congratulations!" and "Kurisu, this is going to be like Summer Wars."
