The awards ceremony for the "TikTok Trend Awards 2025," which recognizes the most popular content and hit items on TikTok this year, was held in Tokyo on December 5th, and it was announced that "Cho Saikyo" by the idol group "Cho Tokimeki Sendenbu.
"Cho Saikyo" is a song included in the album "Tokimeki Rulebook" released last December. The lyrics depict the relationship between idols and fans, with lyrics such as "I'm the only one in your smartphone's camera roll anyway, right? In fact, I'll never forgive you if I'm not!", and it has become a hot topic as the "Reiwa era's favorite song." Coupled with the catchy choreography, the song has been viewed over 2.5 billion times on TikTok.
The reason for the award was explained as follows: "The catchy melody has spread widely not only in Japan but also in Asian countries such as Korea and Taiwan. The members' own posts sparked a rapid spread of choreography and collaboration videos by fans and creators."
Appearing at the awards ceremony, member Haruka Koizumi introduced the song, saying, "It's a song for all idol fans, as it's a Reiwa era song. It's a song about what idols want their fans to protect." She also expressed her joy at receiving the award, saying, "What was unexpected was that it reached couples as well, and so many people sang and danced to it. Thanks to 'Cho Saikyo,' 2025 has become a glorious year!"
Hitoka Sakai, who received the trophy on behalf of the group, said, "When we first formed, we did street performances and handed out tissues, and worked hard steadily...there were times when things didn't go well, but I'm happy that people all over the world have come to know us. The weight of the trophy really brings it home."
When asked about her goals for next year, Tsujino Kanami enthusiastically said, "I want to create a song that will surpass the songs that got attention on TikTok, such as 'The Cutest!' and 'The Strongest.' I'll also do my best to bring excitement to people all over the world!"
