The drama series "Futari Escape" (TV Osaka, Saturday midnight 12:55am), starring Iwamoto Renka and Tomiri Nao of the idol group Nogizaka46, will air its final episode on December 6th. Ahead of the final episode, comments from the two who have just wrapped up filming have been released. It has also been announced that the drama will be released on Blu-ray Disc (BD) in the spring of 2026.
Iwamoto expressed her gratitude to the staff, saying, "Thank you for giving me the opportunity to take part in such a wonderful production. In the works I have appeared in up until now, it was often difficult and challenging to get into character, but this production is a slice-of-life drama, and I wondered if it was okay to spend my time escaping reality on such a peaceful set...I think the reason I was able to relax and approach the filming as if it were my private life, even though it was work, was because I was surrounded by everyone's kind atmosphere during the shoot."
"Once I started laughing, I couldn't stop laughing (until the actual shoot), and I had a really happy time filming in such a bright atmosphere with everyone. Thank you very much," she said.
Tomisato also thanked the staff, saying, "Thank you everyone. Every day (of filming) was really fun, and I was very happy laughing so hard so many times a day that my stomach hurt. I was worried about whether I would be able to balance the drama and my activities with the group, but working with everyone was so much fun...I'm really sad that it's over." She added, "I felt like I'd grown a little as a person, and I became very close with (Iwamoto) Renka. Thank you everyone so much! It was fun!"
The drama is a live-action adaptation of the manga of the same name by Taguchi Koichi (Ichijinsha). It is an escapist comedy about an unemployed senior (Iwamoto), who is a "professional escapist," and a junior manga artist (Tomiri), who is busy writing manuscripts every day. In the final episode, the junior is told by his editor that his serialization will be canceled, and he is plunged into a life of unemployment. While walking around the city at night to escape reality, the senior proposes a theme for a new manga... and so the story unfolds.
