We interviewed actress Elena Kamata , who gained attention for her role as Liselle Zeludac in the special effects drama " Kamen Rider Gavv " (TV Asahi, 2024-2025). We asked her about the V-Cinema Next " Kamen Rider Gavv Parfait" (limited-time screening from November 28th), a sequel to the TV series that prominently features ReZEL, and about her future goals after appearing in Kamen Rider.
◇The final episode of the TV series "Tension"
Kamata is 16 years old, born on September 1, 2009. He has been active as a child actor, and has appeared in numerous dramas, including the NHK Taiga drama "Saigo Don." He is currently a regular on NHK Educational TV's "Tensai Terebikun Geo Monogatari." This is his first appearance in the Kamen Rider series, and he beams, "I've received a great response!"
"I was prepared for people to dislike me because I played a villain, but I was surprised when people sent me photos of themselves cosplaying as ReZEL saying, 'I love ReZEL!' I also received messages from overseas. Before I appeared on the show, my Instagram followers were just under 10,000, but now they're over 30,000, so I really feel the impact I've had."
ReZEL is the daughter of President Bocca Zeludac , who stands in the way of the main character, Kamen Rider Gavv /Shoma Stomach, as a powerful enemy. She is a cheerful and selfish character, but also inherits the cruelty of her father.
"There were many scenes where the way she spoke was cute, but what she was saying was scary, so I focused on how to express that. Like her face was smiling, but her eyes weren't (laughs). I used the power of my eyes to try and convey a "somewhat creepy" feeling."
LiZEL behaves assertively, backed by her father's authority, but towards the end of the series she loses her father and falls into decline. In the final episode, she also loses her husband's jeep, leaving a lasting impression of loneliness.
"She must have been really lonely, with her beloved father and Jeep gone. LiZEL, who normally doesn't cry, sheds tears. It was an important scene that led to this V-cinema, so I was nervous."
◇ "I was so touched by Kizunato!"
In the TV series sequel, Kamen Rider Gavv Parfait, ReZEL takes refuge with a group of runaway girls.
"It was refreshing to see her go out of her way to listen to the people around her, which was different from the previous ReZELs, and I was personally happy to see her make friends. After the final episode, I received a lot of feedback from fans asking, 'What will happen to ReZEL?' and 'I'm worried about her,' so I tried to portray ReZEL 'after that.' I know that losing someone you care about isn't going to be very encouraging, but a ReZEL wouldn't be too hung up on it... I tried to keep that emotional balance in mind."
Highlights include "the growth of the ReZEL" and "the coolness of Kamen Rider Valen/Karakida Kizuto, played by Hino Yusuke."
"I was so touched by Kizuna (laughs)! It was a scene I wasn't in, but when I saw it during the recording, I thought it was so cool! I hope you'll check it out."
After playing a villain, he says, "Next, I'd like to try my hand at playing a hero who saves people."
"I'd love to play a hero like Shoma (played by Hidekazu Chinen) who is kind to everyone, and I'd also love to do some action! I'd also love to appear in Kamen Rider again! It would have a completely different atmosphere from ReZEL...I'd also love to play a character with a sparkling happiness like Yukika (played by Miyabe Nozomi). I'd love to appear in the role again and again!" she said with a smile.
The film is a new release from Toei's V-Cinema Next label, which distributes films in cinemas and as packages. It will be screened for a limited time from November 28th at Shinjuku Wald 9 (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) and other venues, with the Blu-ray Disc (BD) and DVD set to be released on June 10th, 2026.
