TV Tokyo's popular information variety show "Appear! Ad Street Heaven" (Saturday 9pm) will feature the Shinbashi/Karasumoriguchi area in Minato Ward, Tokyo on its November 29th broadcast.
The area around the Karasumori exit of JR Shinbashi Station is one of Tokyo's most densely populated areas for bars. With around 600 restaurants, it's known as a "holy land for drinkers." The program features popular standing-only "Shungiku Tempura Soba" that opens at 7 AM, black pork loin cutlet in the basement of a multi-tenant building, great value black pork and bean sprout stir-fry, sushi that has a three-year wait in the basement of a Showa-era building, and the famous negima (steamed green onions) served at a narrow restaurant on the approach to a shrine.
Also featured will be an 80-year-old active musician performing at a bar with a guitar, a chicken hotpot restaurant founded in the Meiji era that was the last supper of Yukio Mishima, a highball bar that opened this year with a "specialty" of its own, and a sauna, a great ally for men who have missed the last train!
The guests are freelance announcer Akira Fukuzawa and model Asuka Kijima.
