NHK's art entertainment program "Dissection! Masterpiece," which takes a look at world-famous masterpieces and dissects them in detail, will broadcast "Kofuku-ji Temple's National Treasure Ashura Statue" on NHK BS from 8:00 PM on November 20th. Celebrities and experts from various fields will discuss the appeal of the Ashura Statue at Kofuku-ji Temple in Nara from their own unique perspectives and in surprising ways.
The program is a series that takes a look at one of the world's various "masterpieces" and thoroughly analyzes its appeal.
This episode will feature the National Treasure Ashura statue at Kofuku-ji Temple, also known as the "idol of the Buddhist statue world." Sculptors, manga artists, and researchers will use their unique perspectives and surprising methods to unravel the secret of its popularity, the exquisite craftsmanship behind the statue's unique expression, and the hidden thoughts and worldviews of the statue. Featuring Jun Miura, Kesa Miho, Satoshi Yabuuchi, Takayuki Yamazaki, Hidetoshi Moriya, Setseo Imazu, and Moto Hagio.
