Toei Animation's new anime attraction in Nakano

Toei Animation has teamed up with Nakano Ward, Tokyo, to launch the "NAKANO Mural Anime Road," which aims to create new anime-related attractions within the ward. The sidewalks of the power distribution ground equipment at the north exit of Nakano Station (Shiki no Mori Park area) and the south exit of Nakano Station (Senkoumae Street area) will be wrapped in anime artwork.

It will be decorated with visuals from 19 works, including "The GeGeGe no Kitaro," "The Great Adventure of Horus, Prince of the Sun," "Puss in Boots," "Mazinger Z," "Galaxy Express 999," "Dragon Ball," "Futari wa Pretty Cure Piece," "Futari wa Pretty Cure," and "Girls Band Cry." The display will last for about a year.

Toei Animation is participating in the Nakano Executive Committee, which connects people through anime, and is made up of local economic organizations, tourism and transportation-related companies, and universities in the ward. The Executive Committee utilizes content from anime-related companies in Nakano Ward in the local area.

Nakano Ward Mayor Naoto Sakai commented, "NAKANO Mural Anime Road, a long-awaited new attraction for the city of Nakano that utilizes anime content, has now been completed. I am truly pleased that we can mark its launch with a collection of Toei Animation's works, which can be said to be the history of Japanese animation itself. In recent years, as Nakano has grown, it has become home to a cluster of well-known anime-related companies that are active around the world. I hope that through NAKANO Mural Anime Road, residents will feel closer to and become more familiar with anime, a culture that Nakano is proud of around the world. I look forward to many people from Japan and abroad visiting and enjoying touring Nakano along with NAKANO Mural Anime Road. Please come and visit Nakano."

Hiroto Masamura, chairman of the Nakano Connecting through Anime Executive Committee, said, "Prior to the launch of the Nakano Connecting through Anime Executive Committee this year, the Nakano Branch of the Tokyo Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Nakano Ward established the Nakano, Suginami, Toshima Anime Regional Branding Project Executive Committee in 2017, and have been working together as a public-private partnership to revitalize the local economy through anime content. In response to this initiative, anime-related companies, which continue to grow with the global market, have been flocking to Nakano and are becoming established as a local industry. We have previously livened up the city by holding events utilizing content from anime-related companies, but with the Nakano Mural Anime Road, people can now enjoy Nakano and anime together all year round. Please continue to look forward to Nakano, where both culture and the economy continue to develop."
