On July 30, 1995, three women, including a high school student, who worked at the Nanpei supermarket in Hachioji City, were shot to the head and killed. In the second part, we follow the unusually rapid developments in the investigation as the statute of limitations approaches, and search for clues to the solution from new testimony.
The investigation unfolded into an unusual operation with Canada. The source of information was a Japanese man on death row in Dalian, China, who was imprisoned for smuggling stimulants and claimed to know about the Hachioji incident. The reporting team interviewed various people who had emerged in the investigation, and finally came across this new testimony 30 years later.
