The 65th episode of the NHK Asadora drama "Anpan " (General TV, Monday to Saturday at 8:00 AM and others), starring Mio Imada , was broadcast on June 27th, and viewers were drawn to the words and actions of Tokairin, the chief editor of the Kochi Shimpo newspaper, played by Kenjiro Tsuda.
In episode 65, Nobu (Imada) comes to Kochi Shimpo relying on Tokairin's business card given to him at the black market. However, Tokairin seems to have no memory of it at all. As Nobu gives up and is about to go home, Tokairin suggests, "There's an entrance exam coming up soon. Why don't you take it?" Tokairin irresponsibly says, "Yeah, you'll definitely pass!", to which his subordinate Iwashimizu (Yuki Kura) asks, "Can you take responsibility?" In response, Tokairin tones down his statement, saying, "I'll pass! ... I think so."
A few days later, after the written and practical exams, Nobu is interviewed. It is pointed out that he was once featured in an article as a "mirror of patriotism," and he is questioned about whether his views have changed much. Nobu denies that he was marked as a militarist by the occupying forces, and honestly explains why he quit teaching, but he leaves the room dejectedly after seeing the stern looks on his face from the interviewers.
The other interviewers try to reject Nobu, saying that no matter how nice she says, the past cannot be wiped away, but Tokairin advises, "You could say that she represents the women of today," and "We've all been devastated just like her, and we're all living with the same feelings as her! Don't you think the world, I, and you all need to change too?" He then defiantly declares, "I will take responsibility."
Tokairin chased after Nobu and said, "Our company has been waiting for someone like you...Although no one said that. The editorial department is so short-staffed that we'd be glad to get any help we can get. We're hiring you as an extra paw," to which Nobu was surprised and said, "No way."
Although Tokairin didn't remember scouting Nobu, he supported the hiring. On social media, people were saying things like, "Tokairin is so cool," "He seems casual, but he's also a passionate guy...the way he switches between those two is so cool!!," "He doesn't seem like an ordinary person," "He'll likely be a strong ally for Nobu," "I want to work while listening to Tokairin's cool voice," and "It's interesting to see how Tokairin's mood and what he says change so expressively."
