Main cast of "Garo TAIGA" movie announced

It has been announced that actor Kitada Shoichiro will play the protagonist Saejima Taiga in the new movie version of the popular "GARO" series of special effects dramas and anime. This will be Kitada's first leading role in a film. Kamishima Rika will play the heroine Fuki, Namioka Kazuki will play the sacred beast Byakko, and Seto Riki will play the villain, the horror Jado. It was also announced that singer Kageyama Hironobu will be the voice of Zarba the magical ring that supports Saejima Taiga as his partner.

A trailer featuring Taiga Saejima was also released. The video begins with "Where there is light, there is jet black darkness," reminiscent of the opening narration of "GARO" (2005), and Taiga Saejima appears with the line "There is a hint of horror, Taiga" from the Zarba Magic Ring. The scene where Taiga summons his armor was also shown.

Kitada, who plays Saejima Taiga, commented, "I'm Kitada Shoichiro, who plays the main character, Saejima Taiga. I'm happy to be involved in a work that has been loved for 20 years. See you at the theater!" Kamishima, who plays Fuki, said, "I did my best to play Fuki so that I could bring a breath of fresh air to the Garo series! I'm looking forward to seeing you at the theater!"

Namioka, who plays Byakko, commented, "The script is fantastic, and it's the best Garo ever. I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to be involved!" Seto, who plays Jado, sent a message saying, "I played Jado. I tried to cherish Director Amemiya Keita's wish to 'be beautiful.' I hope you enjoy it at the theater!"

The new work will be directed and scripted by Keita Amemiya, the original author of the series. The main character is Taiga Saejima, a Makai Knight who is the father of Kouga Saejima, and the story will depict the exploits of Taiga in his younger days that have not been revealed until now. It will be released on October 17th.

The "GARO" series depicts the exploits of Makai Knights, whose destiny is to hunt the "Horrors" that lurk in the darkness of this world. The first special effects drama was broadcast in 2005, and it gained attention for its dark and fantastical worldview, stylish visual beauty that makes full use of CG and VFX technology, and dynamic action scenes. It has been expanded into a media mix, including a movie version, spin-off works, anime, stage plays, and games. The new movie version will be produced as part of the series' 20th anniversary project.
