The name of the Internet service that NHK will launch on October 1st has been decided as "NHK ONE," and was unveiled along with its logo on June 18th.
Following the revision of the Broadcasting Act, from October 1, 2025, NHK will be required to distribute programs over the internet in addition to broadcasting in order to "continuously and stably provide NHK's broadcast programs to those who do not have reception equipment." This includes simultaneous distribution of broadcast programs and catch-up and missed-listen distribution, excluding those for which permission could not be obtained or for which there are unavoidable reasons.
The new "NHK ONE" website, which will be launched in October, will integrate various services such as simultaneous streaming of NHK General TV and E-Tele programs, one week of catch-up streaming, news articles and videos.
Currently, the company offers five apps: "NHK Plus," "News & Disaster Prevention," "For School," "Radiru Radiru," and "Gogaku." Starting in October, "NHK Plus," "News & Disaster Prevention," and "For School" will be replaced by new apps. Detailed service details are scheduled to be announced in July.
