He will play Yuto Tomaru, a highly motivated detective in the First Investigative Division.
The drama is based on the novel of the same name by Keiya Iwai. The protagonist, who was known as the " The Last Appraiser" and was an ace at the forensic science lab, solves difficult cases using a scientific approach in this science x mystery drama. Naohito Fujiki plays the role of the skilled expert Domon Makoto, and Mai Shiraishi plays Takakura Shuuko, a researcher who supports the eccentric Domon.
Tsumaru, played by Nakazawa, is a young man who joined the Kanagawa Prefectural Police in the hopes of becoming a detective. He is ordered by his superior, Miura (Abe Ryohei), to act as a go-between between Domon and the scene of the investigation. Although he is annoyed by Domon's difficult-to-approach and unclear attitude, he tries to persuade him to accept the request.
Looking back on when he received the offer, Nakazawa commented, "I have always had a strong desire to try my hand at playing a detective, so I was genuinely happy to be offered the role. Even though I will be pushed around by Domon-sensei, I will aim to solve the case with the passion of a young detective."
When asked what he is looking forward to about filming, he said, "This is the first time I'm acting with everyone, and the characters we'll be playing are all fascinating, so I'm really looking forward to the chemistry we'll see as we act together."
In addition to Nakazawa, the appearances of Takaya Sakoda, Ryohei Abe, and Rui Kurihara were also announced. Sakoda will play Naoki Aida, a lawyer who first asks Domon for a scientific analysis, Abe will play Kotaro Miura, a section chief at the First Investigative Division, and Kurihara will play Nobuyuki Arashiyama, a member of the National Research Institute of Police Science.
