Actress Kyoko Koizumi made a surprise appearance at an advance preview screening of the final episode of the Fuji TV Getsuku drama "Second to Last Love 3 ," in which she co-stars with Kiichi Nakai , held in Tokyo on June 17th.
When asked about the similarities between her role and the TV station producer Yoshino Chiaki in the drama, Koizumi revealed, "We started to have similarities in season 3. Between seasons 2 and 3, I started a company and became a producer...I'm becoming more like Chiaki."
Koizumi explained, "I'm getting closer to Chiaki in real life. So I was able to understand Chiaki's feelings much better this time around." She continued, "I sometimes refer to Chiaki when I work with other people."
Nakai, who plays Nagakura Wahei, also made a surprise appearance at the event. When asked about a memorable scene, Koizumi said, "When I act with Kiichi, I really trust him. No matter what ball I throw, he picks it up and throws it back. It's all fun."
Regarding his performance with Koizumi, Nakai reminisced, "There was a moment towards the end when the director didn't call cut. In our generation, we were told to keep acting until the director called cut, so we did that, but no matter what (Koizumi) said, he would come back with something surprising, ad-libbed." When Nakai said, "I thought of him as the best partner," Koizumi responded, "I trust him too. He's a senior I really want to follow in my footsteps. I want to look up to him."
The drama is set in Kamakura and is the third season of the romantic, home-comedy series that depicts the love story between Koizumi, a TV producer, and Nakai, a civil servant working at Kamakura City Hall. The script was written by Okada Yoshikazu, who also wrote the first season in 2012 and the second in 2014, and depicts the events 11 years after the second season. The final episode will air on June 23rd.
