The final episode (episode 10) of the TBS Sunday Theatre drama " Caster " starring actor Hiroshi Abe (Sunday 9pm) was broadcast on June 15th, and recorded an average audience rating (according to Video Research, Kanto region, same below) of 12.0% for households and 7.1% for individuals. This is up from the previous week's episode 9, which had a household rating of 9.9% and an individual rating of 6.0%, and closed with a return to double digits.
The drama is a social entertainment set in a TV news program, where the truth buried in the darkness is pursued and evil is punished. Abe plays the unconventional newscaster Soichi Shindo, Nagano Mei plays the general director Hana Mei Nagano , who struggles despite being pushed around by Hana Sakikubo , and Shunsuke Michieda of " Naniwa Danshi " plays Yusuke Motohashi, a rookie assistant director aspiring to be a journalist who respects Shindo.
In the final episode, 43 years ago, Shindo's father, Tetsu (Yamaguchi Makiya), and Kunisada ( Hideki Takahashi) were covering the crash of a Self-Defense Force transport plane. Shindo questions Kunisada about why Tetsu's article was not published, and they return to the cave to find out the truth. Meanwhile, a weekly magazine reports on a scandal surrounding Newsgate. Trust in news programs is shaken. JBN is subjected to fierce criticism... and so the story unfolds.
