Actor Ryoma Takeuchi attended a press conference for the drama "The Prison Guard's Way" (June 21, 9:00 pm) in which he plays the lead role, held at TV Asahi (Minato Ward, Tokyo) on June 11. When asked about his "own style" in reference to the title of the drama, he spoke about his strong passion for food.
In response to the question, "Isn't it kind of uncool to say that this is your style at 32 years old?" Takeuchi laughed wryly and said, "I have a lot of preferences, but...I guess it would be food. I won't be satisfied unless I eat what I absolutely need on that day, so there isn't a day when I'm satisfied with something." She revealed that she does not compromise on her diet, saying, "There hasn't been a day since I was about 27 that I think convenience store food is okay."
When asked by the MC, "Have you decided what to have for dinner tonight?", he confessed his passion, saying, "I haven't decided yet (laughs). I might change my mind at the last minute... it's difficult. So I'm going to search for a restaurant with all my might. That's where it all comes down to whether I win or lose (laughs)." The MC was surprised at Takeuchi's "seriousness," saying, "That's quite a difficult way to do things."
The drama is a film adaptation of the novel of the same name (Takarajimasha, 2019) by Shinichi Shiroyama, winner of the "This Mystery is Amazing!" Grand Prize, set in Kaga Prison in Ishikawa Prefecture. A passionate prison officer's "small kindness" towards one inmate leads to a major incident that could shake the prison system, and a detailed and ingenious mystery is solved, along with a rich human drama.
This is Takeuchi's first time playing a prison officer. He plays Akihiro Munakata, who is close to the inmates and tries his best to help them rehabilitate. Fumino Kimura and Kazuki Kitamura also attended the press conference.
