It has been announced that Kenyu Horiuchi will be appearing as a voice actor in the new anime "LUPIN THE IIIRD Zenigata and the Two Lupins," which is based on the popular anime "Lupin the Third" manga by Monkey Punch and stars Inspector Zenigata. Horiuchi will play the role of a mysterious character who looks just like Lupin the Third, a fake Lupin.
Horiuchi said, "This time, I've been chosen to play Lupin the Third. Are you surprised? This time's 'fake Lupin' looks so much like the real Lupin that even the real Lupin could mistake him for the real Lupin. What's more, he's a ruthless man. He's also the perpetrator of the bombing terrorist attacks that mercilessly sacrificed the nation's citizens. He's a genius at explosions. I did my best to play the role of this 'fake Lupin.' I know I'm bragging, but I think this will become my signature character. The recording time was like a dream."
A promotional video featuring the "two Lupins" was also released on YouTube. The video begins with a scene of an unprecedented terrorist bombing, in which Zenigata expresses his anger, saying, "Innocent civilians were caught up in this terrorist bombing. This is unforgivable violence!" He then resolves to catch Lupin the Third, the man believed to be the perpetrator of the bombing, with his own hands, and pursues the case. There is also a scene in which the two Lupins meet, with the cold-hearted fake Lupin saying to Lupin the Third, "Why are you stealing?"
The "LUPIN THE IIIRD" series' "Gravestone of Daisuke Jigen," "Goemon Ishikawa's Spray of Blood," and "The Lie of Fujiko Mine" will be available for unlimited streaming on Prime Video from June 23rd. "Lupin the Third: The Golden Legend of Babylon" will premiere on June 6th, and "Lupin the Third: The Intrigue of the Fuma Clan" on June 13th.
"Zenigata and the Two Lupins" is a prequel to the completely new animated film "LUPIN THE IIIRD THE MOVIE: Immortal Bloodline," which will be released on June 27th, and like the new film, it is directed by Koike Takeshi. A terrorist bombing occurs at an airport in the frigid land of the Lobiet Union, and Inspector Zenigata corners Lupin the Third, who is suspected of carrying out the terrorist attack, but he denies any involvement in the incident. Then, the existence of "another Lupin" emerges. Zenigata comes face to face with the mysterious fake Lupin... This is the story.
It will be available on Prime Video, Animehodai, FOD and other video streaming services from June 20th.
