A press conference for a dress collection created in collaboration between the TV anime "Oshi no Ko," based on a popular manga serialized in "Weekly Young Jump" (Shueisha), and the dress brand "KIYOKO HATA," was held in Tokyo on June 2nd, where voice actors Rie Takahashi, who plays Ai in the anime, and Takeo Otsuka, who plays Aqua, appeared. When asked about the similarities between her and Ai, Takahashi said, "I think I'm the same in that we're both serious about our work."
Takahashi said, "I think Ai's phrase, 'Lies are the ultimate love' is well known, but (Ai) is so serious about her job as an idol that she would even lie if it meant wanting everyone to be happy. I also strongly believe that (voice acting) is a job where you really tell lies, so I would like to create many authentic works. I guess you could say I have a passion for my job as a voice actor. That may be similar to Ai's feelings about idols."
The dress collection is designed based on the characters of "Oshi no Ko", and includes models for Ai, Aqua, Ruby, Kana Arima, Akane Kurokawa, and Mem-cho. There are 7 styles and 8 outfits in total. The items will be available for rental from October at wedding halls, hotels, and costume rental stores nationwide.
"Oshi no Ko " is a popular manga written by Aka Akasaka , who Kaguya-sama: Love Is War ", and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari , who is also known for " Scum's Wish ". It was serialized in "Weekly Young Jump" from April 2020 to November 2024. It depicts the story of a twin brother and sister left behind by a genius idol named Ai, who suddenly dies. The younger twin, Ruby, admires her mother and enters the entertainment industry, while the older brother, Aqua, vows to take revenge on their biological father, who is believed to have accomplices in Ai's murder. The comic has sold over 20 million copies in total.
The first season of the TV anime aired from April to June 2023, and the second season from July to October 2024. The third season will air in 2026. The live-action adaptation has also been a hot topic.
