To commemorate the release of the latest 7th volume of the manga "Girl Meets Rock!" (Futsuu no Keionbu), which is currently being serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+", on June 4th, it has been announced that the manga will be collaborating with the song "Senkou Shoujo" by rock band "Tokyo Incidents". A special collaboration visual combining the lyrics of "Senkou Shoujo" with frames from the manga will be displayed as outdoor advertisements in multiple locations in Shibuya, Tokyo from June 2nd to 15th.
The latest volume 7 features an episode about a live performance showdown between the band the protagonist belongs to, "Heart Break," and rival band "protocol." In particular, the episode (episode 63) in which "Heart Break" performs the song "Senkou Shoujo" by "Tokyo Incidents" became a trending topic on social media, leading to the realization of a special collaboration.
To commemorate the release of the latest 7th volume, the first hands-on pop-up shop "Girl Meets Rock! On Club Houkago Saiko!" will open at "GALLERY X BY PARCO" on the first basement floor of Shibuya PARCO from May 30th to June 16th. In addition to selling goods featuring specially drawn illustrations by the author, Tetsuo Deuchi, there will also be exhibits and photo spots where you can experience the world of the work.
"Girl Meets Rock!" began publishing in January 2023 on "Jump Rookie!" and on the original author Kuwahari's X (@kuwahali). With Deuchi as the illustrator, the series began serialization in "Shonen Jump+" in January 2024. The story follows Chihiro Hatono, a high school freshman who loves a bit of mellow Japanese rock, as she joins the light music club she admires, and through her band activities, she struggles and grows as a guitarist and vocalist and as a high school student. It has been a hot topic, winning first place in the web manga category of the "Next Manga Awards 2024", second place in "This Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2025", and third place in the "Manga Awards 2025".
