In the third episode, Reiko's eldest daughter, Hoshina (Yoshitama Hoka-chan), and then her eldest son, Atsumasa (Kotobuki Shoma-kun), get the mumps. Reiko desperately tries to find someone to look after them, but is unable to find one. In desperation, she asks her husband, Ryohei, who is on a business trip, if he can come home early.
However, Ryohei said, "Isn't there anywhere I can take care of her?" and showed no signs of cooperating with Reiko, saying, "I can't cause trouble for my colleagues." Such an attitude of Ryohei caused backlash on social media, with people asking, "Why is he putting the burden on his wife alone?"
In the synopsis of episode 5, three families gather together: the Nagano family, the Murakami family including Shiho (Tabe), and the Nakatani family (Dean Fujioka) with his wife Juri (Shimabukuro Hiroko) who is returning to Japan. The preview video shows Ryohei looking grumpy in front of Reiko, and Reiko saying, "Why is it always someone else's problem?"
On social media, comments such as, "Kawanishi-san was in the preview for next week!", "Reiko-san's husband finally appears. Where has he been and what has he been doing up until now?", "Reiko-san's husband will appear next week! Everyone, get your logs!", "Ryohei-san was confirmed in the preview for the next episode. I'm going to be excited and wait for the next week", "After three episodes, viewers are pretty annoyed with Ryohei-san! It will be interesting to see how he appears!" and "Just the preview for the next episode on the official website is already building up hatred for Reiko's husband lol" were posted and attracted attention.
The film is based on the novel "Taigan no Kaji" (Housework on the Other Side) by Kiko Akano (published by Kodansha Bunko). It depicts the "endless work" of housework through the protagonist's interactions with "people on the other side" who have different positions and ways of thinking than her.
