A project to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the birth of screenwriter Hashida Sugako, who passed away in 2021, titled "AI Hashida Sugako Project : Wataru Seken wa Oni Bakari Extra Edition" will be broadcast on BS-TBS from 6:30 pm to 7:00 pm on May 11th. Having learned the characteristics of Hashida's works, "AI Hashida Sugako" will write a new script for Hashida's masterpiece, "Wataru Seken wa Oni Bakari," which will be broadcast as a 30-minute drama.
The project was born from the question, "If Professor Hashida were alive today, how would he portray a modern family?" The producer is Fukuko Ishii, who has worked with Hashida to produce a number of popular family dramas.
The story is set in a Chinese restaurant called "Koraku." The proprietress, Ai Taguchi, and her husband, Makoto, have one daughter, Sakura. One day, it is discovered that Sakura, who passed the entrance exam for a prestigious university, has been working part-time at a maid cafe in secret, causing tension in the Taguchi household... The film is said to be a clash between the values of the Reiwa era and the family values of the Showa era.
The cast includes Ryo Yoshimura, Takehiro Murata, Miyu Ando, and Nana Muranaka. Takuzo Kadono will be providing the voice, and Koji Ishizaka will be providing the narration.
