The drama series " Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective " starring Kanna Hashimoto Kanna (TV Asahi, Tuesdays at 9pm) will begin on April 22nd. The series is based on the same-titled novel by Mikito Chinen, which has sold over 3.6 million copies in total and has also been made into a TV anime. It is a medical mystery series in which the buddy team of Ameku Takao (Hashimoto), a diagnostician with a transcendental intellect, overwhelming medical knowledge and insight, and Takanashi Yu (Miura Shohei), an internist, brilliantly solve mysterious illnesses, murder cases and even paranormal phenomena. The first episode will be six minutes longer.
Hashimoto will be taking on the role of a doctor in his first work since the NHK Asadora drama "Omusubi." He will be joined by Nozomi Sasaki Sasaki as Takao's sister, Mazuru, and Toshiro Yanagiba as his uncle, Owashi.
The story of the first episode is as follows: Takanashi, a former surgeon and internist, is dispatched to the General Diagnostics Department of Teniikai General Hospital. The head of the General Diagnostics Department, where patients who are deemed "difficult to diagnose" by each department are gathered, is Takao, the niece of the hospital's director, Owashi, and vice director. Takao's unique personality means that his words and actions can only be controlled by his sister, Manazuru, the administrative director. However, Takao is also a genius doctor with astonishing diagnostic abilities.
Truck driver Kagawa Shohei (Tsukaji Muga) is rushed to the hospital after a traffic accident. He says that his hands started shaking and he lost consciousness immediately after eating a donut. The donut he ate was from a company that has recently been involved in a series of incidents of pesticide contamination and mass vomiting. However, no matter how many tests they do, they find nothing abnormal with Kagawa's body, and no poison is detected in the donuts that were in the wrecked truck. Takao and Takanashi take on the task of identifying the cause of the illness.
