Kaoru Fukuda and Takuro Mashiko of the comedy duo "Uji Koji" will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) at 1:00 pm on March 28th. The Tochigi dialect manzai is celebrating its 25th year since its debut.
The two went to the same high school and university, worked the same part-time jobs as apprentices, and even got married the same year. They started performing manzai together in their first year of high school. They say that a senior in their club told them to "do something funny," so they had no choice but to do it. In their third year of high school, they participated in an amateur comedy show, which inspired them to aspire to become professionals. Footage of the two, who were 18 years old at the time, is shown.
He also touches on the origins of the gag "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" and explains that there is a phenomenon of this gag being imported back into Japan, with people from Tochigi Prefecture mistaking it for Tochigi dialect.
