It was announced on March 13th that Taiga Kyomoto of the popular group "SixTONES" will be acting as a special supporter for WOWOW's live broadcast of the "78th Tony Awards" ceremony, which will be held on June 9th (Japan time) at Radio City Music Hall in New York. This will be the second time Kyomoto has acted in this role, following last year.
Kyomoto is not only active as a member of "SixTONES," but has also appeared in numerous video works as an individual. He has also launched the creative project "ARTPUT" and held his first photo exhibition "Perspective and Starting Point," expanding the scope of his activities.
He has appeared in a succession of noteworthy musicals, including "Elisabeth," "Newsies," and "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg," and was selected to play Wolfgang Mozart, the same role played by Yoshio Inoue, who will be the host of this program, in the musical "Mozart!", which was performed as part of the closing lineup at the Imperial Theater in August last year, marking his first leading role at the Imperial Theater. In addition, in September this year, he will play the lead role of Guy in the Japanese premiere of the musical "Once," which won eight Tony Awards.
In addition, a special program titled "Taiga Kyomoto Hello Tony! in NY" will be broadcast and streamed on May 6th, where Kyomoto will visit New York and the home of musicals, Broadway, for the first time. I've been performing in musicals for about 10 years, but last year was my first time participating in the Tony Awards. It was a truly luxurious experience, being able to experience the wonderful performances and the unity and enthusiasm of the audience, created by the passion that the cast and staff had for the production. The Tony Awards was a huge inspiration for me, and it became my motivation and influenced the way I approached my work afterwards.
Yoshio and Emma created a very warm atmosphere in the studio, and last year I was able to enjoy the awards ceremony purely from the bottom of my heart, but this time I hope to be able to fulfill my unique role as a special supporter.
This year, I will also be visiting Broadway in New York, the home of musicals, for the first time. Because a stage performance is a live event, there are things that can only be felt on that day, at that moment, so I would like to deliver to everyone the atmosphere that I felt at the original Broadway.
