"Drama 1 Week" introduces the main drama news of the week. This time (March 1st to 7th), we talked about Tori Matsuzaka starring in the 2027 NHK Taiga drama "Gyakuzoku no Bakushin", and Kanna Hashimoto starring in the TV Asahi series "Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective " (Tuesdays 9pm) which will start airing on April 22nd. We will cover these topics in two parts.
It was announced on March 1st that Yoshinori Masakado of the popular group " Ae! group " will be starring in his first drama series, " Musashino Rondo ," which will begin on April 19th in TV Asahi's "Oshidora Saturday" slot (Saturdays at 11pm). This will be his first attempt at a romance drama, as he will be playing a man who is devotedly in love with a woman 10 years his senior. The protagonist, Agawa Ryuhei (Masakado), has been in love with a 10-year-old girl next door since he was a child, but she has never seen him as a romantic interest. When a love rival appears, he begins to aggressively approach her, and after 10 years, his unrequited love begins to move forward... Takanashi Rin will play Musashibara Tamaki, the ballet instructor whom Ryuhei has a crush on.
It was revealed on the 1st that Kei Inoo and Rikka Ihara of the popular group " Hey! Say! JUMP " will be co-starring in the April drama series "Parallel Couple: The Truth About My Dead Wife and I" (Kantele/Fuji TV, Tuesdays at 11pm). This is a love and mystery story about a couple who died in an accident, but are caught up in a "miraculous reunion" as they pursue the truth about each other's death and affair. Kanta Namikawa (Ino), who works at a commercial production company, and his wife Natsume (Ihara) are a happy couple that everyone envies. One day, Kanta discovers evidence of Natsume's affair. He hesitates but tries to question her, but Natsume dies in an accident. However, Natsume suddenly appears in his room and is surprised, saying, "What?! Why is Kanta still alive?!"... and so the story unfolds.
The theme song for Abema's original drama " Shinuhodo Aishite " (starting March 27th at 11pm), starring Hiroki Narimiya , who has just returned to acting after an 8-year hiatus, has been decided to be "Super Special Love" by ENDRECHERI./Domoto Tsuyoshi. Domoto commented, "I hope that while you enjoy the drama, you will also listen to my song at the end, and that it will give you an opportunity to think again about love and life." The drama is a live-action adaptation of the manga of the same name by Amagi Seimaru, known for "The Kindaichi Case Files," which has sold over 100 million copies. This is a pure love suspense story filled with "love" and "madness" between the ideal husband, Kamishiro Masato (Narimiya), who is a murderer but outwardly devoted to his wife, and his wife, Mio ( Miori Takimoto), who loves her husband wholeheartedly.
It was revealed on the 2nd that Keiko Kitagawa will star in the drama series "Anata wo Ubatta Sonohikara" (Kantele/Fuji TV, Mondays at 10pm), which will start in April. This is her first drama series since giving birth to her second son, and Kitagawa plays the role of a housewife whose young daughter's life is taken and who decides to take revenge. She commented, "When I received the offer, I wondered if I could do it, but I was very happy." Nakagoshi Hiromi (Kitagawa), who lost her child in a food accident 10 years ago, holds a grudge against Yuki Asahi (Nao Omori), the president of the delicatessen store who caused the accident, but accidentally kidnaps Asahi's child. Hiromi is determined to get revenge, but there is a big miscalculation in the kidnapping... This is the story.
On the 2nd, the seven cast members who will play trainees in the TV Asahi drama series "PJ ~Air Rescue Team~" (Thursdays at 9pm, starting April 24th), starring Seiyo Uchino, were announced. The cast includes Kentaro Maeda , star of "Kamen Rider Build," and Aoto Watanabe , who gained attention for his role in " Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger ." Maeda plays Shirakawa Tomoki, a highly skilled trainee who is relied upon by the other trainees; Inukai plays Toji Yuki, the only trainee with a wife and children who is appointed student leader; and Watanabe plays Hasebe Tatsuya, who rebels against his father, a senior officer in the Self-Defense Forces, and aims to become a rescue worker. The drama is an original story that focuses on the Air Self-Defense Force Air Rescue Team, commonly known as PJ (Pararescue Jumpers), who carry out rescue operations in harsh conditions during accidents and disasters.
It was revealed on the 3rd that Jun Shison and Yukino Kishii will be co-starring in the new NTV Wednesday drama "Love is Darkness" (Wednesdays at 10pm) which will start on April 16th. This is the first time the two will be acting together in a completely original scripted "ultimate love mystery". This will be the first time for both actors to star in a drama in the prime time slot (7pm to 11pm) on the same network. As a series of murders occur in Tokyo, information program director Manami Tsutsui (Kishii) meets Hiroki Shitara (Shison) at the scene of the investigation. Shitara is a freelance writer for a weekly magazine and is a famous reporter who named the serial murders "The Eye of Horus Murders". Although the two have completely different reporting stances, as they work together on the case, they gradually become attracted to each other... and so the story unfolds.
It was revealed on the 3rd that Tori Matsuzaka will star in the 2027 NHK Taiga drama "Gyakuzoku no Bakushin." Matsuzaka will play Oguri Tadamasa, who promoted various reforms, including the establishment of Japan's first joint-stock company. Matsuzaka said, "I'm very nervous. I never thought for a moment that I would be able to play the lead role in a Taiga drama." Matsuzaka's role as Oguri Oguri Kozukenosuke Tadamasa, a Shogunate retainer, was a hatamoto who was said to be "Katsu Kaishu's rival." He was the first Japanese envoy to the United States, experienced the civilization of a new era, and designed the shape of a new country. However, he was labeled a "rebel" by the Meiji government and buried in the darkness of history. This drama depicts the unknown achievements of this Shogunate retainer.
It was revealed on the 4th that Kanna Hashimoto will star in the TV Asahi drama series "Ameku M.D.: Doctor Detective" (Tuesdays at 9pm) which will begin airing on the 22nd of April. This will be Hashimoto's first time starring in a TV Asahi drama series. This will be her first time playing a doctor since the end of the NHK Asadora drama series "Omusubi" (currently airing), in which she plays the heroine role of a registered dietitian. The drama is based on the novel of the same name by popular author Mikito Chinen. It is a medical mystery in which Ameku Takao (Hashimoto), a genius doctor with superhuman intelligence and memory, brilliantly solves mysterious cases and phenomena using his medical knowledge and diagnostic skills.
