Additional cast members have been announced for the new TV anime "Shin Samurai Den YAIBA," based on the manga "YAIBA" by Gosho Aoyama , who is known for " Detective Conan " and other works. It has been revealed that Takeharu Onishi will play Kana Ichinose will play Sea Cucumber Man, Shuhei Sakaguchi will play Spider Man, and Tsuyoshi Inoue will play Go Inoue Kojiro. The band "BLUE ENCOUNT" will perform the opening theme "BLADE." Ichinose commented, "I am honored to have the opportunity to appear in YAIBA. The Sea Cucumber Man is a cute character who is small in stature but works so hard despite his small size. It was a role I hadn't played much before, so I was nervous when I arrived at the recording site, but I was surrounded by very kind seniors and had a great time recording. I hope you will enjoy it."
Inoue said, "I'm happy! When I found out it was decided, I didn't really believe it and instead just took it in calmly, thinking, "Wow, Inoue is going to be doing it...". But I'm happy! Kojiro is my favorite character in 'YAIBA' because he's cool yet playful, so I'm looking forward to seeing him in action in the anime!"
"YAIBA" is a swordplay action manga that was serialized in "Weekly Shonen Sunday" (Shogakukan) from 1988 to 1993, before Aoyama began serializing "Detective Conan". It depicts the exploits of Yaiba Kurogane, an unconventional young swordsman who trains in the jungle with his father. The story follows Yaiba, who returns to Japan by chance and strives to become even stronger in his new training ground... This is the story. A total of 24 volumes of the comic have been released, with a total circulation of approximately 17 million copies.
The new anime will be fully supervised by the original author, Aoyama, and will be fully animated after about 30 years since the series was completed. Following on from the TV anime "Yaiba: The Legend of Swordsman" that aired from 1993 to 1994, Minami Takayama will play the main character, Yaiba. It will be produced by WIT STUDIO, known for "Attack on Titan" and "SPY×FAMILY". It will be broadcast on Yomiuri TV and Nippon TV every Saturday at 5:30 pm from April 5th.
