It has been announced that a new TV anime series, "Oshiri Tantei," based on Troll's picture book, will be broadcast on NHK Educational TV every Saturday from 9:00 a.m. starting April 5th. New visuals and promotional videos have also been released.
The visual shows Oshiri Tantei and his friends enjoying teatime at a forest-like cafe. The PV features Oshiri Tantei Detective investigating various cases, and Thief G, the boss of the Thief Academy. Thief G's meaningful line, "Welcome to your hideout, Oshiri Tantei kun...", is memorable, and the story is about the phantom thieves of "Thief Academy", a prequel to the movie "Oshiri Tantei Detective Star and Moon". He adventures in the vast desert with his father, Butt Dandy, Oshiri Tantei loses his memory, and heads off to rescue the turtle Kouji Midori who has been trapped in a dream world.
"Oshiri Tantei" is based on a popular picture book that has sold over 30 million copies worldwide. Oshiri Tantei Detective, a great detective whose face resembles a butt, solves difficult cases with his catchphrase, "Hmm, it smells." The latest movie version, "Oshiri Tantei Star and Moon" (directed by Shibata Hiroki), will be released on March 20th. The event "Oshiri Tantei Family Stage: Daimajin of the Nambu Ruins" will be held on April 5th at Nerima Cultural Center (Nerima-ku, Tokyo).
