The second stage play of the popular anime "PreCure" series, "Dancing☆Star PreCure The Stage (BokuPri)" opened on February 15th at Theater H (Shinagawa, Tokyo). The play tells an original story about high school boys who fulfill their mission as PreCure with the rhythm of light. Cast members and staff, including Tamura Shogo, who plays Cure Top/Hoshikawa Raku, made comments.
◇ Comment from scriptwriter and director Yo Hosaka
The second installment of Boku Precure is finally about to begin. As with the previous series, the cast and staff came together to share ideas and practiced like they were on a treasure hunt. This time, the focus is on the two third-years, but we hope you will enjoy it from various perspectives, such as the growth of the three juniors who learn about their seniors' pasts, and the struggles of the new characters who appear this time. There may be more painful and difficult scenes than last time. But please believe in Precure. They will surely show you a ray of hope.
◇Comment from Shogo Tamura, who plays Cure Top/Seika Raku
We were able to open the first day without any problems. We were able to get this far thanks to all the cast members who continued to work hard with Precure, and the staff members who were full of love for Precure and supported and backed them up at all times. As this is the second performance, we have been working hard to show a more powerful Precure and dance club than the first performance. The content is also more detailed than the previous work, depicting each character's past and their core, and the script is about facing "your true self". Everyone can have "hope and despair", and it is because they can face both head-on that they were chosen to be Precure. We will not leave anyone behind! Whether it is an ally or an enemy. And of course, the audience too. We hope that you will feel the brilliance of Precure at the theater. We appreciate your support until the final performance.
◇Comment from Ryo Takizawa, who plays Cure Rock/Natsume Hayato
The curtains have finally risen on BokuPri 2. I've received a lot of positive feedback from the previous film, so I'm very happy to be back as Natsume Hayato/Cure Rock. I feel that the cast has grown even more, along with the Stella Dancers, who are passionate about dance and positive about various forms of expression based on theater, and the other cast members, who I'm meeting for the first time, and the PreCure members and pas de deux, who are able to improve themselves by competing with each other.
◇Comment from Morita Kiriya, who plays Cure Soul/Tsukimiya Souna
"Dancing☆Star PreCure" The Stage 2 is finally about to begin. I am very happy to be back in this world as Tsukimiya Souna and Cure Soul. The secret hidden in Souna and Kouga's past, the development in which the bonds between the friends become even stronger, what it means to be oneself? There are many points to look forward to, so I hope that the passion of the PreCure girls will reach everyone's hearts, whether in theaters or online.
◇Comment from Terasaka Raiga, who plays Cure Kagura/Amazu Kouga
I'm Terasaka Raiga, who plays Cure Kagura/Amazuru Kouga. I'm so happy and excited to be able to deliver this second installment. That's why I really want to respond to the expectations and love that everyone has shown me. I want to deliver an evolved BokuPri! In this story, the family home of Kouga, the character I play, Amazuru Shrine, and his father appear. How will his heart waver, and how will he move forward as a PreCure and as a person, being true to himself? I hope that I can inspire everyone to think about themselves and those around them in the midst of their own daily lives. I hope that BokuPri will convey this message so that people all over the world can love the things they love with their hearts. Please come and see PreCure!
◇Comment from Iori Kotsuji, who plays Cure Break/Maito Kurose
I'm An Kotsuji, who plays Cure Break/Kurose Maito. The second installment of BokuPri has finally started! I'm really happy to be able to meet everyone again as Kurose Maito! I'll do my best to present a stronger, more advanced version of Maito than in the first installment. I've been practicing breakdancing since before the actual rehearsals started, and I'm trying out new moves, so I'm very nervous, but I'm looking forward to everyone seeing it! I'll present everyone with a different PreCure and new characters from the first installment. Please enjoy it with all your heart!
◇Comment from Shinichi Wago, who plays the role of Pas de Deux
The long-awaited second volume has finally begun. Along with the joy of meeting everyone again as a pas de deux, how do you convey the secret he is hiding, and how do you portray him as a cute old man... No! A cute fairy? It's a nerve-wracking pas de deux. ...Ah. My body and mind have become so focused on pas de deux that recently I've started ending my everyday sentences with "pas de" and "deux". The pasts of Kouga and Souna, as well as new characters, the Otogiri brothers, are newly depicted. And the relationship between the pas de deux fairy of the Land of Light and Rose of Himenuma... The dance and drama have evolved even further from the previous work. This second volume depicts the bond between the Pretty Cures. I hope it reaches many people...pas de deux☆
◇Comment from Shodai Houshou, who plays Himenuma no Bara
"Dancing☆Star PreCure" The Stage 2 is finally about to begin. During rehearsals, we tried to think of how to create a new cast... and we tried various things while absorbing the enthusiasm of the previous PreCure cast members. As a new and female cast member, there was some pressure, but this created a good sense of tension and allowed us to work hard at rehearsals. I think it's a refreshing and energetic story that also touches the heart, so I want to cherish the time I get to live on stage as Himenuma no Bara! To everyone watching at the theater and on the streaming service! I hope you enjoy the story of each character. Please enjoy the world of PreCure!
◇Comment from Ando Yumeka, who plays Otogiri Yuriya
With BokuPri 2 finally starting, I'm happy and excited to be able to dive into the world of PreCure that I've been watching since I was a child. The highlight of this performance is the "strong message." Words that resonate especially with adults are scattered throughout the show, and I'm moved every time I hear them. Another thing is the past and present of the Otogiri brothers. Although they stand in the way of the PreCure as a rival school, they have their own sense of justice and beliefs, and I think there are many parts that you can sympathize with, so I hope you will also pay attention to their strong bond. The fun and sadness that can only be experienced in BokuPri. Please enjoy the way each character lives their strong life despite their own worries!
◇Comment from Takuki Kajita, who plays Nemu Otogiri
BokuPri 2 has begun! I am really looking forward to standing on stage as Otokiri Nemu. After repeated rehearsals, I can feel the quality of this work even more, and I feel even more eager to show it to everyone soon. The main point of the second installment is, of course, how the three students from Mantenboshi High School will interact with the PreCure! I want you to pay attention to the worries and intertwining of those who love dance... and the dance of the three of us, who tried and tested different things to make it look as beautiful as possible! To everyone watching at the theater and on the streaming service, please enjoy the world of PreCure that we all created together.
◇Comment from Takuji Kawakubo, who plays Soichiro Tengen
Finally, the show has finally begun! I have been participating since the second installment, and as someone who has been bathed in the sparkle of PreCure through rehearsals... I was filled with the desire to deliver this excitement to the audience as soon as possible! I am fascinated by the coolness of the dance and the radiance that PreCure emits, and I am already engrossed in it every day. And this time, as the father of Cure Kagura and Tengen Kouga, I would like to sincerely express the conflict between father and son and the awkward feelings of trying to get them to communicate. Also, personally, I feel a connection with Terasaka Raiga-kun because we both appeared in the Ultraman series, so I would like to evolve through rehearsals and the performance so that the special "bond" will reach the audience. I hope that you will feel the power and love that this company creates!
The first installment of the play was performed in October and November 2023. The second installment will run from February 15 to 23 at Theater H and from March 1 to 2 at Kyoto Theater (Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto City).
