It has been announced that a reboot of "Five Ways to Socially Erase Your Husband," which became a hot topic for its story of an abused wife who socially punishes her "domestic abusive husband" nicknamed "Otosatsu," will be broadcast for two consecutive weeks on December 17th and 24th, with a new cast and a new world line. Former Hinatazaka46 member Shiho Kato plays the wife who seeks revenge on her abusive husband, played by Iijima Hiroki. In addition to being broadcast on terrestrial television, the series will also be streamed as a short drama on DMM Short.
The story is based on the manga of the same name by Mita Tatami. Housewife Akane Okuda has been married to her husband Daisuke for a year. She avoids confronting him, instead trying to please him and do as he says. However, after a miscarriage, she begins to take action to "socially eliminate" Daisuke... This is the story. When it was made into a TV drama starring Fumika Baba and Shuhei Nomura in 2023, it became popular under the nickname "Otosatsu," and season 2 aired in 2024, with Rin Takanashi Rin playing the wife and Yanagi Shuntaro playing the husband.
This is a reboot of Season 1, reconstructed with a new cast and new worldline. Within the updated worldline for the 25th anniversary edition, the original and previous works have been reinterpreted, and a new ending and new story have been created that expands the possibilities of "Otosatsu."
Kato commented, "I was happy to be able to work with TV Tokyo, as they helped me out with 'Hinatazaka de Aimashou' when I was in the group. There will be some heartbreaking scenes, but I hope you will experience a variety of emotions along with the main character, Akane."
Iijima said, "Since I'm playing the role, I intend to go all the way, so I'm worried that Kato, who plays Akane, might dislike me," and added, "I hope you'll look forward to seeing what kind of revenge Akane, who has a kind and gentle personality, will enact, and how she will confront social issues and grow as a person."
"5 Ways to Socially Erase Your Husband Re:venge" will be broadcast from 1:00 a.m. on December 17th and 24th. The short drama version will be available for unlimited viewing on the video streaming service "DMM Short" after each episode has aired.
