The sixth episode of the drama series "Good Things and Bad Things" (NTV, Saturdays at 9 PM), starring actors Mamiya Shotaro and Araki Yuko, aired on November 15th. Towards the end of the episode, the "fourth" victim of the serial murders that Takagi (Mamiya) and his team are investigating was revealed, sparking a stir on social media.
◇The following contains spoilers.
In episode 6, while Takagi and Sonoko (played by Araki) are busy investigating a series of murders, the situation takes a sudden turn. A rival magazine to Weekly Apollo, where Sonoko works, carries a shocking headline: "Beautiful Reporter Saruhashi Sonoko Suspected of Being a Serial Killer!?" The article mentions the time capsule, the yearbook, and the suspicious deaths of classmates who had a connection with Sonoko, all of which make it seem as if Sonoko is the culprit. Sonoko is left speechless after reading the article. The editorial department is inundated with phone calls with inquiries, causing chaos within the company.
Sonoko is viewed with suspicion by the public and subjected to fierce criticism. With nowhere to go, she takes refuge with Kobayashi (Fujima Sawako), the class representative. Worried about Sonoko and outraged as if it were her own fault, Kobayashi urges her to publish a rebuttal article and tell the truth, but if she does that, Takagi and Koyama (Shintaro Morimoto) will become the targets of attack, and neither Takagi's family nor Koyama's company will get away with it. Kobayashi tells Sonoko, who is unsure, to "do the right thing." When Sonoko makes up her mind, Takagi also replies that she should tell the truth. However, Sonoko says she will not write a rebuttal article.
Later, Shinonome (Mai Fukagawa) calls Takagi and the others to the Imakuni snack bar and tells them that Kobayashi had provided information to the former editor-in-chief of Weekly Apollo, who had written a slanderous article about Sonoko. Meanwhile, Sonoko is accompanied by Kobayashi to visit the grave of her younger brother. Kobayashi reveals to Sonoko that his brother committed suicide after being criticized for an article Sonoko had written about drug allegations against a university soccer team member. He approaches Sonoko with a knife, but Kobayashi is unable to stab her and breaks down in tears...
Later in the episode, Detective Utsumi (Subaru Kimura) confirms to Sonoko that three of the people who bullied her have died, and that there are three left. He tells her, "Don't worry, I don't think you're the culprit. Even so, when four people around you die, I have no choice but to listen to your story." In response to Utsumi's "four people," Sonoko is confused and says, "But Takeda, Nakajima, and Sakurai. Just one more..." The scene then shifts, and the final scene shows the body of Otani (Akama Mariko), the former homeroom teacher of Class 6-1, being discovered.
Social media was filled with horror at Otani becoming the fourth victim, with comments such as "Too scary...", "He's a teacher after all", "Maybe to keep him quiet..." and "I wonder if there's some reason he was frozen."
