The sixth episode of the TBS Friday drama "Fake Mummy" (Fridays at 10 PM), starring actors Haru and Rina Kawaei, aired on November 14th. It was revealed that Shingo Motohashi, the president of Mitsuhashi Foods, played by Masaru Kasamatsu, likes "Chikuzenni," causing a stir on social media.
◇The following contains spoilers
Sayuri (Tanaka Minami) is worried because she can't express her opinion to her husband, Shingo. She receives advice from Maiko (Kawaei Kawaei), the younger sister of Iroha's (Ikemura Aoi) mother, Maika (Kaoru Haru), and prepares Chikuzenni for Shingo.
"Chikuzenni, huh? That's good. It was one of Mom's specialties," said Shingo in a good mood, eating it with gusto. "(My mother) wasn't that good at cooking, but she would always make Chikuzenni herself without relying on a maid," he reminisced.
"Chikuzenni" also appears in the Tuesday drama "Jaa, Anta ga Tsukutte Miro yo It" (Tuesdays at 10 p.m.) currently airing on the same station. It is a favorite dish of Katsuo, played by Ryoma Takeuchi, a patriarchal man who believes that "it's natural for women to cook!", and his then-girlfriend Ayumi (Kaho) often makes it for him.
The appearance of "Chikuzenni" in the Friday and Tuesday dramas caused a stir on social media, with comments such as "Chikuzenni lol, Katsuo came to mind lol", "There was a Chikuzenni guy in Fake Kummy too lol", "The power of Chikuzenni is incredible, both in Tuesday and Friday", "Is Chikuzenni a craze in TBS dramas?", "TBS loves Chikuzenni lol", and "Is Chikuzenni being promoted by the entire drama industry?"
The drama is a serial adaptation of the winning work by Sonomura Mitsuru, who won the grand prize at the first TBS NEXT WRITERS CHALLENGE screenplay competition. Kaoru, who is struggling to find a new job, meets Hidaka Makie, the company president and single mother, at an interview at the venture company RAINBOWLAB. Makie invites Kaoru to a parent-child interview as a stand-in for her daughter Iroha, who is applying to a prestigious private elementary school.
