It has been announced that "Pure Potato Oni no Utage Sriracha Sauce," a collaboration between singer-songwriter Tomonari Sora's hit song "Oni no Utage" and Koikeya's snack "Pure Potato," will be released. The snack, which is characterized by its spiciness, sweetness, and sourness, is made with the seasoning Sriracha sauce and will be available in convenience stores nationwide from October 6th, and in supermarkets and other locations from the 13th.
"Oni no Utage" was released by Tomonari in January 2024, and the total number of views of related content videos on social media has exceeded 1 billion. The song has attracted a lot of attention, especially among young people, and it ranked third in the 2024 "DAM Karaoke Ranking." Regarding the reason for this unusual collaboration, a Koikeya representative explained, "It's a popular song within the company, and in fact, it seems that our company president's grandson is also a fan, so he was looking forward to this collaboration. We hope that people of all ages will get to know "Pure Potato" through the music, and that they will pick it up and enjoy it."
Tomonari commented, "I wondered how the song "Oni no Utage" could be connected to potato chips. However, as the planning progressed, I began to see the commonality in the aspect of "addictiveness," and I felt it was a really interesting combination. I couldn't be more honored to collaborate with Koikeya's potato chips, which I enjoy eating regularly."
Regarding the taste of the new product, he said, "I felt that it was spicy enough to satisfy even those who like spicy food. When combined with the sourness and flavor, it's definitely addictive and you can't stop eating it. It's a flavor that I would especially recommend to people who like Asian food."
To commemorate the release, a one-day only pop-up event, "Pure Potato Banquet, Even Demons Will Get Addicted," will be held on October 12th from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM in the store event space on the first floor of Shibuya Modi (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo). Admission is free, and visitors will be able to take part in a "Pure Potato Oni no Utage" giveaway and a raffle with prizes. The event will end once the planned number of products and prizes has been distributed.
