"There is another culprit." Jinnai reveals to Saiki that seven years ago, his pregnant wife Kaori (Iriyama Noriko) was stabbed to death and dope was found at the scene. At the time, a homeless man was arrested on suspicion of the crime, but he was not a dope user. Therefore, Jinnai believes that there must be another culprit.
"Would you lend me your strength? I think I can use your (supernatural) ability to predict the future. I'll find the real culprit. And I'll definitely kill him," Jinnai said, eyes filled with determination. Saiki stared at Jinnai.
On social media, comments such as, "Jinnai and Saiki's eyes at the end. What incredible spirit!", "I'm happy to see that the duo of Jinnai and Saiki, and everyone in the Special Investigations Division, have grown closer since the last time," "No matter how many times I watch the final scene between Jinnai and Saiki, I'm glued to it," "I can't wait to see how Saiki responds," and "It was the same at the end of episode 2, but Saiki's eyes are really beautiful and not cloudy at all. I'm looking forward to seeing how it leads into the beginning of episode 3."
The story is based on the same-titled novel (Kadokawa Bunko) by Kizaki Chiaki, who made her debut as a novelist after winning the grand prize in the 20th Dengeki Novel Prize with "Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens." Set in a near-future Japan where a mysterious new drug called "DOPE" is rampant, Saiki Yuto, a rookie narcotics agent with the secret Narcotics Control Department Special Investigation Division (Special Investigation Division), and Jinnai Teppei, the division's trainer, attempt to solve a mysterious case.
