It has been revealed that Yojiro Noda of the rock band "RADWIMPS" will appear in the WOWOW drama "Drama W: Yoru no Dohyo " starring Hidetaka Yoshioka. Noda plays Akutsu Gen, a murder suspect and fugitive, and commented, "In today's world where easy, convenient answers are everywhere, I felt that this was a necessary drama, even though it is by no means kind."
The original work is a mystery novel by Akira Ashizawa titled "Yoru no Dohyo" (Chuokoron-Shinsha), which won the Mystery Writers of Japan Award for Best Novel and Short Story Series. It is a socially conscious mystery in which detective Shotaro Taira (Yoshioka), who is in charge of a murder case that occurred in 1996, investigates the footsteps of suspect Gen Akutsu (Noda) and the reason for the murder, while approaching the "truth" of the case. When the dots of the characters are connected around a certain suspect, an unexpected "dark side of society" is brought to light...
Akutsu, played by Noda, is a suspect who murdered his teacher, who supported him during his student days when he struggled with mild mental disorders. Why did he kill a teacher he supposedly trusted? Despite leaving behind a wealth of evidence, he is a mysterious fugitive whose whereabouts have not been traced for two years.
A Teaser trailer for the drama was also released, depicting the tense moment when detective Taira closes in on Akutsu, a suspect who has been missing for two years.
"Drama W: Yoru no Dohyo" (5 episodes in total) will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Prime and WOWOW On Demand every Sunday at 10pm from September 14th. The first episode will be broadcast for free.

As I read the script, I was overwhelmed by the sheer weight of the emotions of the people in the story. I felt like I was being drawn in. I imagined that it would be a difficult role unlike any I'd played before, but I strongly felt that I wanted to be involved in this work. In today's world, where easy answers are overflowing, this is by no means a kind work, but I felt that it was a necessary one. I'm proud that this team was able to create such an important work.
