The awards ceremony for the 17th Best Mother Awards 2025, which selects and honors people who mothers look up to and aspire to, was held in Tokyo on May 8th. Model Izumi Mori, singer Dream Ami, freelance announcer Reina Sumi, former badminton player and Rio Olympic gold medalist Ayaka Takahashi, and novelist and essayist Naoko Yamazaki attended.
Mori received her award in the entertainment category, Dream Ami in the music category, Sumi in the culture category, Takahashi in the sports category, and Yamazaki in the literature category, and they all attended the awards ceremony.
Sumi said, "Recently, I've made some mom friends. I take my kids to the park with me and visit each other's houses. I never thought I'd be able to make friends at my age, so I'm happy to have made these encounters."
Dream Ami expressed her gratitude for the help from those around her, saying, "I think it's thanks to my husband who gives his all to his work, childcare, and family, and to the people who support me. I think of this as an award that we all received together as a team."
The award has been awarded by the Japan Mothers Association since 2008, and the winner is chosen by votes from mothers across the country. Previous recipients include actors Ryoko Hirosue and Michiko Kichise, and model Yuri Ebihara.
