Additional cast members for "Ultraman Omega," the newest addition to the "Ultraman" special effects drama series, have been announced, including actor Haruto Yoshida (24). He will play Hoshimi Kousei, an Earthling who meets the main character, the alien Omega (Sorato), and becomes his partner. Yoshida made his debut as an elementary school student and was active as a child actor, playing Ichimatsu in the 2014 NHK Taiga drama "Gunshi Kanbei." In the currently airing drama series "The Reluctant Preacher" (Nippon TV), he plays student Miyazawa Keita.
Kosei, played by Yoshida, is an ordinary young man who works part-time as a live-in warehouse manager while searching for his future. After an encounter with an alien named Omega who has lost his memory, Kosei is overwhelmed by Omega's genuine interest and concern for everything on Earth, but he supports him with his natural kindness and gets involved in a monster incident. It was Kosei who gave the human-like form of Omega the name "Sorato". Later, he gains the ability to control Meteor Kaiju, Omega's partner monster. By fighting together, he and Sorato bond even more deeply, and the two build a buddy relationship between alien and human.
Visuals of the Meteor Kaiju Rekines and Trigaron controlled by Kousei were also released. The Meteor Kaiju is usually in standby in sleep mode, characterized by its unique shape. When Kousei holds up the Meteor Kaiju, feeling a sense of mission to fight alongside Omega, it transforms into a monster. Light particles shoot out from inside and it transforms into a giant Kaiju mode, and following Kousei's instructions, it becomes one with Omega and fights.
Rekines is the first Meteor Kaiju that Kousei gets his hands on, and has the ability to move and stop things with telekinesis, such as floating and flying rocks. He has a friendly personality and grows attached to Kousei. Trigaron is the second Meteor Kaiju that Kousei gets his hands on, and has very high athletic ability, power, and speed. He has a rough personality that symbolizes his aggressive fighting style.
Yoshida, who plays Kosei, commented, "I am overjoyed to be able to take over the history of Ultraman that has been woven by my predecessors and join this series that is loved all over the world! Watching Kosei grow as he fights together with the help of Sorato and the Meteor Kaiju, I gave it my all, hoping to imprint the important message of this film in everyone's hearts! I hope that we can all get excited about 'Ultraman Omega' together. Let's spread it to the world!"
"Ultraman Omega" is about the main character, an alien (Ultraman) named Okida Sorato, who suddenly falls from the sky onto an Earth where neither heroes nor monsters exist. Okida Sorato transforms into Ultraman Omega and fights monsters, and becomes a buddy team with the Earthling Hoshimi Kosei, exploring the question, "Why does Ultraman protect the Earth?" Takei Masayoshi, known for "Ultraman R/B" and "Ultraman Decker," is the main director, with Nemoto Toshizo and Ashiki Junichiro in charge of series composition. Actor Kondo Shouri plays the main character, Sorato. The series will be broadcast on TV Tokyo every Saturday at 9 a.m. starting July 5th.
