On May 2nd, it was revealed that WOWOW will be programming a special program for two months from June to July entitled "Hide's 60th Anniversary Special: Experience hide through music and movies," to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the birth of hide, the guitarist of the rock band "X JAPAN" and active solo artist who suddenly passed away in 1998 at the young age of 33.
More than a quarter century has passed since hide passed away, but he is still loved by many fans and has had a huge impact on the music scene. In 2023, which marks the 30th anniversary of hide's solo debut, "hide with Spread Beaver" will reunite. They will gather again on the anniversary of his death on May 2nd this year, and hold a live concert titled "hide Memorial Day 2025 hide with Spread Beaver "REPSYCLE" ~Life is still going on!!~" at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) for two days on the same day and the 3rd.
The concept of the live performance, "REPSYCLE," is a word coined by hide, and means to recycle and create from original materials. The permanent special box of the same name, "REPSYCLE ~hide 60th Anniversary Special Box~," released in 2024, contains unfinished songs produced by INA, a co-producer of hide's songs and a member of hide with Spread Beaver, and recorded using the latest technology. This live performance will be held to commemorate the release of the special box.
WOWOW will broadcast and stream the live performance at Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium on the 3rd exclusively on WOWOW Live and WOWOW On Demand from 6 pm on June 29th. PATA from "X JAPAN" and Seiji Kimura from "ZEPPET STORE" will appear as special guests at the live performance, just like in 2023.
Additionally, the following three programs will be broadcast and streamed in July: "hide Music Video Collection" (a collection of music videos), "hide 50th anniversary FILM JUNK STORY" (a documentary tracing the history of hide's activities and the way he lived his life through footage and comments from his life, as well as testimonies from those involved), and the film "TELL ME: The Scenery I Saw with hide" (a film adaptation of the book "Brothers: Memories of hide" by Matsumoto Yuji, hide's younger brother and personal manager).
