The homes of actress Kiki Kirin, who passed away in 2018, and her husband, musician Uchida Yuya, who passed away the following year, will be featured on the variety show "Platinum Family" (TV Asahi, excluding some regions), which will air at 7:00 pm on April 22nd.
This program introduces the lifestyle of the "gorgeous family = platinum family." On this day, MC Kotaro Koizumi visits the couple's home. Their daughter, essayist Yayako Uchida, and their granddaughter UTA, who works as a model, show them around and talk about their memories with the couple.
At Kirin's suggestion, they decided to live in a two-generation home with Yayako's family. The home was filled with the unique worldview of the Uchida family, including a room called the "At a Confessional" that was made for Yuya, and a photo of Yuya that was displayed in the living room as a talisman.
The interior was sprinkled with Kirin's aesthetic of "using things to the last detail." Items included furniture made from recycled waste and a lamp made from a trophy that Kirin had received. Upon hearing Kirin's idea that "things also have their merits," Koizumi empathized, saying, "My father told me the same thing from an early age," and shared memories of his father, former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi.
The program will introduce the many legends surrounding Yuya's life, including "Five Great Legends to Pass on to Future Generations," along with rare footage, and will also reveal the inside story of Yayako's marriage to her husband, actor Masahiro Motoki.
